These were two videos made for the Canadian Federation of Students. These were made with Jamie Muntean and Marissa Erin, under the tender supervision of Ewald Friesen at MediaStyle. They were released right before the Federal Election of 2015 as part of a very successful effort to encourage students to vote.
In 2008, I made a little film with Josh Raskin and Alex Kurina. Based on an interview a 14-year-old Jerry Levitan made with John Lennon. We worked on this little film for about a year.
The film was shown in hundreds of festivals and won a bunch of awards, including Best Animated Short from the American Film Institute award. It was later nominated for an Academy Award, and won an Emmy Award. It 2010 it was presented at the Guggenheim as part of the Guggenheim/Youtube Award.
Once upon a time, I made things wiggle
Well this is a bit of crazy bullshit. A few years ago, I made a series of images based around one crazy night at a Harris Teeter (a grocery chain based in South Eastern United States with a patently hilarious name.)
The idea is that everyone at the store ate tainted meat, which instantly spins them off into a religious madness. Over the course of one night, they all have their own messianic psychedelic trips, become convinced that their specific interpretation of the ham teachings is the only way, and then a 12 way religious war breaks out.
You know, like how all religions get their start.
I presented this to an incredibly confused Japanese public in 2013.
In May of 2015 I had the opportunity to go to Japan and have a show at Lil' Rire in Tokyo. The show was organized by Hiromi Kim, who has gone on to open Gallery Jib,
Darren Pasemko and I made a series of animations for the ESPN 30 for 30 series. This documentary was called Sole Man, and it was directed by Dan Marks and Jon Weinbach for Electric City Entertainment. It follows the story of Sonny Vaccaro, the man that brought shoe endorsements into basketball, and changed the game forever. We had animation assistance from Greg Dobble, and Fred Casia.
This was a fun project I made with Josh Raskin. I did all the drawings, and animated bits, printed them all out, and then bound them into eight books. We then spent a few weeks in a cold basement shooting it all and reanimating the little guys. It took a long time, but I am really happy with the end product. This was made for the great people at Reno Associates and The Toronto Public Library Worker's Union.
These are a few of the illustrations I made for the Munchies wing of Vice. These food dribbles were paired with the wonderful writing of Richard Parks.
A poster I made for Entre Chien et Loup, a film by Daniel Isaiah Schachter.
These are a series of illustrations I made for the Financial Times. Art direction by Darren O’Beirne.
